Welcome back for another Strategic Chat, where we bring two communications industry experts together for a discussion on a specific topic that provides meaningful and actionable information. So, today’s topic is something we can all relate to – how to stay calm when the world around you is going crazy.
It’s actually a 2-part interview where we’ll focus on tips for PR practitioners, as well as business leaders in general.
Our expert today is Noelle Fox, APR. Noelle is a longtime friend and colleague, and the founder of the blog Peaceful PR. Noelle started Peaceful PR in response to the fast-paced, high-pressure world of public relations, which she’s lived in for nearly two decades.
She’s worked in Major League Baseball, for county government, and for an international nonprofit healthcare system. In 2010, she started her own PR practice – True Blue Communications – and has served clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, commercial real estate, finance and nonprofit.
So, PR-related roles are always ranked among the top 10 most stressful jobs in the U.S. And while it’s a crazy time for everyone, between the COVID-19 pandemic, responding to the Black Lives Matter movement, and general uncertainty in just about every aspect of our business and lives, it’s safe to say that PR professionals are more stressed than ever before.
But, it’s important for us to be leaders in addressing these critical issues and helping our clients and organizations move forward appropriately.
At the same time, overworking to the point of extreme stress and exhaustion can take a toll on our health and well-being. And when those suffer, so can job performance.
While it may feel hard to focus on ourselves during this hectic time because we’re usually focusing on others, it’s in everyone’s best interest that we do so.
So, check out our discussion on tips to help PR pros manage this crazy time.
Noelle joined me for Part 2 of this Strategic Chat on staying calm when the world around you is going crazy.
The first discussion focused the PR industry, and now we’re broadening out the discussion to see how Noelle’s insight and expertise translate to business leaders.
